INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS - BU100
Prerequisites: None Credits 1/2 Grades offered: 9, 10, 11, 12 This semester course is designed to introduced students to the role of consumer, worker and citizen. The course will focus on responsible consumer decision making, on preparing for future employment and on citizenship. The course will introduce a variety of topics including accounting, money management, economics, business law and business management. Students completing this course will have a solid foundation to pursue other business courses. ____________________ GOOGLE AND OTHER SOFTWARE APPS - BU101 Prerequisites: None Credits: 1/2 Grades offered: 9, 10, 11, 12 This course will develop basic computer skills in the following areas: keyboarding techniques, document formatting, electronic communication techniques, file management, and basic software applications. Students will work in depth with Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, GMAIL, Forms, Drawing, Chrome and other parts of the GSuite. ____________________ ADVERTISING - BU103 Prerequisites: None Credits: 1/2 Grades offered: 9,10, 11, 12 This course is designed to give students general knowledge of advertising and its role in our society. They will understand the advantages and disadvantages of print, digital, and broadcast media. This course is a good foundation for those students pursuing higher education in business, communications, marketing, and/or advertising. ____________________ SMALL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT - BU201 Prerequisites: * Credits: 1/2 Grades offered: 10, 11, 12 *It is strongly recommended that Introduction to Business be taken prior to this course. Project and simulation based, this course is an excellent choice for any student who wants to learn about starting a business. Students will develop a business plan for the creation of their own business They will apply acquired knowledge to the management and operation of their business. ____________________ |
FINANCIAL LITERACY - BU203
Prerequisites: None Credits: 1/2 Grades offered: 10, 11, 12 This course will start students on a path toward being in control of their financial futures. Students will learn how to budget, save, spend wisely, and avoid debt. This course studies the personal financial needs of most individuals and emphasizes the basics of college and career planning, budgeting, banking, investments, credit cards, loans, the wise use of insurance, paying and preparing income tax returns and keeping care of your credit score. Students taking this course will learn to better prepare for their financial futures. ____________________ FINANCIAL LITERACY (Online) - BU208 Prerequisites: * None - This course meets the Financial Literacy State Requirement needed for graduation. Credits: 1/2 Grade offered: 10, 11, 12 *Specific Scheduling Needs and Counselor Approval is required This flexible, self-paced online course is specifically designed to start high school students on a practical path toward gaining full control of their financial futures. Through comprehensive digital modules, students will master essential, real-world skills, including how to effectively budget, save, spend wisely, and strategically avoid unnecessary debt. The curriculum thoroughly examines the personal financial needs of most individuals, emphasizing the core basics of college and career planning, banking, fundamental investments, the responsible use of credit cards and loans, the importance of adequate insurance, and the practical steps involved in both paying and preparing income tax returns and maintaining a healthy credit score. By taking this online course, students will gain the knowledge and confidence necessary to expertly prepare for a financially secure adulthood. ___________________ BUSINESS AND STREET LAW I - BU204 Prerequisites: None Credits: 1/2 Grades offered: 10, 11, 12 Laws that affect everyday living are stressed as the student examines civil and criminal law and the operation of our courts system. This semester course includes topics on Crimes, Criminal Defenses, Contracts, Tort, Negligence, Tort Defenses, and other everyday legal topics. The mock trials help students develop critical thinking and presentation skills. ____________________ LEADERSHIP - BU302 Prerequisites: None Credits: 1/2 Grades offered: 10, 11, 12 This semester elective course will focus on the development of students into influential leaders who are able to positively impact others and maximize the results of themselves and the teams upon which they are a part of. Throughout this course, students will look at leadership theory, self-reflection, practical analysis, and implementation into their own lives.
